A few weeks ago, we bought a house here in San Francisco. (and all our friends said "I guess you're staying". After what we went through to get here, yeah we are. Also, we're working on getting said friends to move here because it's just better here.) The house is tiny and offensively expensive, but but but. Great neighborhood, half a block to a huge park, walking distance to food, coffee, etc. And we can continue to be a one-car family, which I've decided I really like.
Also, two weeks ago someone took a dump in our rental apartment's parking spot. City living is glamorous.
When we moved here a year ago, I never thought we'd be able to buy a place in the city but somehow we're going to do it. Of course, the house is all of 15 feet wide. Details! An opportunity to downsize our possessions and focus on the things that matter to us! Again!
Here's a quick education on your fashion stylie: 5 big bags of clothes = $32 at the used clothing store. Ow.
Usually during stressful times like this, I find ridiculous projects to distract myself. This time, the thumb-suck of choice was migrating all of my sites to Dreamhost and upgrading antisleep to Movable Type 3.2. I was still on 2.6 since I was worried that my over-over-customized templates would break things, but comment spam pushed me over the edge. Turns out the template thing was no big deal, and so far Dreamhost is fine too. It's nice that I don't have to worry about compiling the latest version of PHP or whatever.
Anyway, back to the boxes.
