dear epson.
Dear Epson,
Lots of pro photographers swear by your inkjets. You make nice inkjet paper, good ink, and I'm always impressed with the print quality of even your cheap models.
So why can't you make a printer that doesn't clog up after three days of inactivity?
My Stylus Photo 820 makes me hate myself. I've pretty much quit printing digital photos at home because "printing a single 4x6" always turns into "an hour of running the head-cleaning utility."
My last Epson was the same way. I want to like these printers but I can't. I'm throwing this one out and buying ... a Canon? A more expensive Epson? (ack) Anyone have good suggestions?
At this point, $0.29 prints from ofoto seem pretty attractive since I only print for snapshot purposes right now anyway.
(sidebar: the Epson print driver can't monitor ink levels and whatnot through my Hawking print server, even though the Hawking supposedly supports bidirectional printing. Epson's tech support response is "we don't support the use of print servers". That sucks too.)
