i meant it when i said "800,000".

For the record, the cicada thing was no joke here in lovely northern Virginia. Witness the base of a tree in our back yard. And know that we had many other trees that looked just like this one.

For a while there it was pretty surreal. You couldn't even hear the beltway (er, "the ocean") because the flying-saucer sound was so loud. Plus, there was that pleasant aroma. Cicadas are stupid; they fall on their backs and they can't turn over, so they die. Then they rot in the heat. So our entire yard (and thus, lawnmower, and thus, shed) smelled like dead cicada. And that's a nasty-ass smell.

Hordes of locusts and an Evans baby in the same year. No dobut, the final harbinger of doom will be Bush's re-election.
