outside of a bar in atlanta.

back from atlanta.

I just spent a few days in Atlanta, at a seminar for work. Recap:

  • Good vegetarian food at Cafe Sunflower. (Not as good as the coincendentally-named Sunflower back home.)
  • WRAS reminded me how good college radio can be. Glossless DJs, lots of good music that you've never heard before, some dead air, no commercials, no Nickelback.
  • I picked up A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius. I'm a few years behind the cool kids.
  • Sucky sucky broadband at the downtown Renaissance. $10 a day?
  • Brad's on a business trip this week too. He's at E3. While I spent the week surrounded by Dockers, golf shirts, and XML, he was here.
  • Bradee and I are driving to North Carolina this weekend to hopefully SAVE BIG BUCKS!!!1! on furniture, so I also picked up a book on furniture shopping in NC. After an hour or two of [slowly] browsing sites listed in the book, I'm convinced that in the 52 zillion square feet of showroom floor that NC has, we will find zero cool furniture.
  • "First class" security lines at Atlanta aiport. Wtf.
  • The waiter at Cafe Sunflower was in DC a few weeks ago for the pro-choice march. He drove up, marched, and drove back the next day. 650 miles each way. Nice work.
  • Speaking of politics, here's a fine rant -- specifically "On Curves and Choice". While you're there, enjoy the recap of her Fox News appearance. And speaking of politics, why are all the tech execs contributing to the Bush campaign? Ick.
