fandom.

Fact: 98% of the ceiling fans in the world are ugly, ugly things. There were two fans in our house when we bought it, and both were excellent specimens of wow-someone-actually-picked-that-out. Wish I had pictures.

So I looked around for cooler fans, and found The Modern Fan Company. Expensive, but MFC looks like a smallish company that cares about building things well, so after some discussion we plunked down about $600 on two fans: a ball for the bedroom and a cirrus short for the dining room. I bought from ylighting. They seemed friendly and had the best prices I could find.

Before ordering, I called Modern Fan with a few questions about the controls they offer (the information on ylighting's site is out of date). The person (note: person) who answered the phone was friendly and knew everything about their products. Astonishing!

I've installed one so far. Review follows: good instructions, easy installation, fan looks great, fan works great. Brushed steel body feels substantial, motor turns on like it means it. If you need a ceiling fan and you can live with spending $300 on it, buy one of these.
