"the change".
We played well the other night -- one of our better sets. Galaxy Hut wasn't the usual packed house though, which is weird for a Saturday night. Maybe everybody was resting up for easter.
This show aside, I wonder if we're approaching Local Band Menopause: the point at which your friends have seen you play enough that they don't come out to every show, but while the shows were crowded, you didn't generate enough interest to start any kind of "scene" around your shows (which, as far as I can tell, simply doesn't happen in DC, I don't know about other places) or to get opening slots for bigger bands. So your draw starts to drop and... then what? Then I guess you start writing idiotic runon sentences.
The best response is probably to market harder. More flyers, more press, more pimpin', more hoin'. But come on, how many people go to a show after seeing a flyer?
Maybe after the next few shows, we'll hibernate for the rest of the year and finish the new record. Seems like a good way to lose any momentum we gained, but maybe not.
